1904 Crescent Athletic Gun Club Brooklyn Mens Sterling Crystal Cigar Humidor
1904 Crescent Athletic Gun Club Brooklyn Mens Sterling Crystal Cigar Humidor
This humidor is the best I've seen in my 30 years in the industry. It is a high-quality, cut crystal body with a solid sterling silver lid. The humidor measures approximately 6 inches tall with the lid and is 5 1/8 inch wide at the base. There is so much about this piece of history to talk about. First, it was presented to the Crescent Athletic Club's Gun Club by C.A. Sykes. The lid was crafted by the Wilcox Silver Plate company and bears their maker's mark, along with the Sterling Silver mark, making it one of the few pieces Wilcox crafted in Sterling. The lid bears the name of all members of the gun club. Their names are as follows:
A.G Southworth
W.W. Marshall
F.T. Bedford Jr.
J.J. Keyes
H.B. Vanderveer
E.H.Lott
F.B. Stephenson
G.G. Stephenson
L.C. Hopkins
A.W. Money
and the winners' names:
H.M. Brigham
L.M. Palmer Jr.
The other writing reads "Crescent Athletic Club Gun Club 1903 Team Championship 1904. Presented by C.A. Sykes. Won by H.M. Brigham L.M. Palmer Jr."
This is an incredible find. There are two extremely minor chips found, which I tried to capture in photos. They are so minimal that it was hard to capture them. There is a pinhead ding in the top of the lid and a slight ding on the side of the lid as well. These items in no way, shape or form affect the beauty of this historical piece. There is an area inside the lid for a humidor pack. There is no more prestigious way for a man to offer another man a cigar than out of a crystal and sterling humidor with this historic significance. It is the only one ever made for the 1904 championship. I also have the 1902 championship jar to list.
The humidor will be double boxed, appropriately wrapped and fully insured.
